The Constitution

A Captain's rule is absolute. It's a simple rule, but the most important rule. An undermined leader is no leader at all; a leader without followers, is too a sham. The Captain's responsibility is both to the individual and the whole. The responsibility of the crew is to respect, and support their captain. Only together can we be truly strong.

Respect the ranks. The Initiates; are the unproven blood that may one day surpass even you. Show them respect as they will surely return the favor ten-fold. The Mateys; account for each and every one of us. If someone is nothing but a Matey he/she is still family, treat them as such. The Upper Echelon; are the elite who work diligently to better the Company in the eyes of the world. The Council; is a group handpicked by the Captain who go above and beyond to make sure all facets of the crew is spoken for. The Warlords; are proven individuals willing to put countless hours into writing strategies, being first in a fight and last out. They represent the pinnacle of their profession; a title that is lost as quickly as it is gained. The purpose of our ranks is not to separate but to unite. We all serve a small part of the whole, respect what each brings to the table.

Be Civil. We are all human; and therefore we are all susceptible to conflict. The rule of civility is intended to ensure that when conflicts arise the crew has a system. If a problem has no immediate impact on anyone involved; let it go or at least sleep on it. When emotions fade, there might be a logical friendly solution. If a conflict stems from with-in the crew; address it immediately. Do not wait, do not let it build. Do not attempt to resolve the conflict on your own, and speak with the appropriate party. A conflict with a player should be addressed to the player, members of the council you feel most comfortable with, or directly to the Captain. The most important thing is to remain graceful, don't take things seriously, and learn from the experience.

Love thy Crew. Yes, not respect, not withstand, not be tolerant; but love. As a StrawHat you are part of a family that you will experience laughter, disappointment, trials and tribulations. You will spend countless hours leveling up your character, and ultimately what makes it all worthwhile is the people you do it with. A rule such as this cannot be enforced; so I simply ask. Become willing to sacrifice yourself for others, do not be greedy, and make people feel welcome each and every day.

Honor the Crew. The moment you become a Matey you pick up our linkpearl. You join a new a legacy. You join the best. As the wise Uncle Ben once said "With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility." Be diplomatic when it comes to the relationships with other citizens of the world. You are not asked to act any different then how you normally would; but aim to build bridges and not burn them. Always remember Nakama protect their own.

Have a Sense of Humor. This means that if the humor is not directed at you, do not feel obligated to chime in. You are joining a group of adults, so act like one. If you have a problem, bring it up through a PM. I promise you will not be ignored. Laugh often, laugh out loud!
