Im having a bit of trouble deciding race now, I want to heal and be helpful as much as possible yet I dont want to be a cat girl or an elf. Such a problem

Being able to deal out attribute points where you want make any race viable for anything. You just have to focus on the main stats each level. I'm not playing a race I don't like because of 3-4 measly points

You know it doesn't take very long to balance out your stats. Since each point has yet to cost more then the previous, it really matters little what your starting stats are.

Square Enix has stated there will be racial differences in terms of stats for a very long time now. I don't know where the surprise is coming from. The only surprise to me is that the stat differences do not parallel those in FFXI.
